belcher and cassandra perkins. the kansas city star and the "new york post" report that belcher spent the night drinking and partying with a girl named britney glass, at a popular bar district in downtown kansas city. belcher drove miss glass home, dropped her off and passed out in misbentley. 2:50 a.m., cops woke belcher up and told him not to drive. he called glass apt spent the next four hours in her apartment. at 6:45 a.m., he drove the bentley to his home where girlfriend perkins recently arrived with her own night out with friends. argument ensued and belcher shot perkins nine times. belcher's mother and baby were there for the shooting. after killing perkins, belcher kissed the lifeless body, walk toed his mother, kissed his baby girl and left. he drove five miles to the chiefs' practice field after several minutes of pleading with him, they couldn't talk belcher off the ledge. belcher thanked the coaches, knelt down beside a car, made a sign of a cross and put a shot to his fare hoed ending his life -- fairhead ending his life. serve trying to make this about their issue. nbc

now investigators say they are trying to figure out what prompted jovan belcher to murder his girlfriend before taking his own life. police say that jovan belcher shot and killed his girlfriend, kasandra perkins, on sunday morning before heading to the chiefs stadium where he killed himself in front of his head coach and others. the chiefs have any moment of silence before their game yesterday to remember all the victims of domestic violence. not specifically naming jovan belcher, but certainly a lot of questions. steve brown has more in chicago with this. we heard a little bit of the 911 call before the break. how do those final moments play out at arrowhead stadium earlier on saturday morning? reporter: yes, let's put that into context. kasandra perkins was shot numerous times and fatally wounded by the father of their child. that is jovan belcher, who drove to arrowhead stadium, essentially to talk to two people. that would be head coach and general manager. neither of those two gentlemen have commented on how those final seconds played out. but police officer that was watc

jovan belcher killed his girlfriend an then drove to the kansas city chiefs stadium and killed himself in front of his coaches. let me be clear. we don't know the causes or reasons the reasons behind this tragedy in particular, but we have seen a large number of nfl players take their own lives over the last few years. studies have shown that some of these swidz can be attributed to something called cte. it's chronic traumatic encephalopathy. it's attributed to alzheimer's. some are attributing it to concussion-like injuries. there's new information out, a new study that's making a lot of news. what is in the study, and why is it significant especially in light of what we've just seen happen over the weekend? >> researchers, ashleigh, have been so curious to know what do the brains of these athletes with chronic -- it's the biggest study. it's the largest mof people. they looked at 68 brains on autopsy of people who died and had chronic traumatic encephalopattie. most were athletes. i think this is really going to explain what they found. the three brains on the left are normal brains.

' linebacker jovan bechler, little zoe belcher will receive $1 million. payments up to age 23 if she attends college. meantime, several chiefs players attended a memorial service for belcher yesterday. he killed his girlfriend at the house they shared on saturday before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide. but his little daughter will receive at least $1 million from the nfl as she grows up. $9,000 per month for the next four years. and then at least $4,000 per month from age 4 until she turns 18 or if she does go to college. >> 23 goes to college. so incentive to stay in school. covered by the league's health care plan for the next five years as well. so the team was represented at, his funeral service, yesterday. and will also have team representation at his girlfriend's service, in a few days. so it's still a tragic situation at least you know the little girl the real victim in all of this will be taken care of by the league. >> as will beneficiaries receive $1.2 million. they're not necessarily stating who those beneficiaries are at the moment, though. tragic though. >>> in
